You still get mess duty in the military at least if you are on a navel vessel.

so it was a real puppy?
f?ck those guys. killing animals is like, 2 steps shy of being a serial killer. Good thing we're training those f?ckwits how to USE ADVANCED WEAPONS.

yeah I thought people were saying it wasn't real and was staged.
finding out it was a real puppy is awful.
Basically serial killers and psychopaths start out by torturing and killing animals first.

I'm disgusted. I hope those guys get dishonorably discharged and are court ordered to go to some f?cking rehab or community outreach program for animals.
disgusting.

yes, and i did not view it. i had hoped it was a fake anyway, but still the idea was sick.
I don't even like that commercial of the cat getting its head bitten off by the car sunroof.

it's funny, kinda.
there's like a honda accord or something in the driveway and this cat jumps up on the hood, walks up the windshield and gets on the roof.
it sticks its head in the open sunroof and the sunroof snaps shut and you see the head fall off inside the car and the body tumble back over the side of the car.
then there's like a voice over or something, "the all new honda accord, it's meaner than it looks."
which is ha-ha, but it's very realistic which makes it not ha ha.

Wow. I'd have given the dude a beating for that. It shows a total lack of discipline, for one thing. Those guys were outside the wire, and they're f?cking around shooting videos of dudes throwing puppies off a cliff? I was being a fill-in team leader once and I had a private take a photo while he was taking a knee and I told him if he did it again I'd take his camera and use it for target practice. In my platoon those guys would have gotten smoked until they puked just for f?cking around and making a video.
I shudder to think what my platoon sergeant would have done to them for killing a puppy for fun. We occasionally had stray dogs and cats walking through our COP (outpost) and I'd tell the people that f?cked with them that they were idiots: dogs and cats eat the f?cking rat vermin that spread diseases around there. Leave the goddamned dogs and cats alone unless they're f?cking with you.
That being said, a dishonorable discharge is too much. Dishonorable discharges are for people who commit serious military offenses or crimes that would be the equivalent of felonies under the civilian code. A Less-Than-Honorable discharge is more common, although I'm not sure that killing an animal justifies even that. If I was their commander I would definitely find some other serious punishment for those jackasses, though, as well as ordering them to attend some real counseling.
But if they were in my platoon I'd probably just give them a punch in the mouth for not pulling security while they were on a mission outside the wire and leave it at that.

Dishonorable discharges are for people who commit serious military offenses or crimes that would be the equivalent of felonies under the civilian code. I don't know for sure about america but canada animal cruelty is a felony. Under your reasoning for a DD that makes it ok since it is a felony in federal courts.

it varies from state to state.
many states it's a felony, but they'd be tried under a military court, so it's probably not a felony for them.

Hard to say. You're right, animal cruelty can be a felony in the U.S., but I think it generally has to involve torturing the animal. Shoot a dog in the head and it probably wouldn't be considered a feloy violation; skin the thing alive and it certainly would. Not sure where throwing a dog off a cliff would lie along that spectrum.

It isn't just throwing the dog off a cliff. It is making a video of it, and putting it on the internet. Ignoring opsec how is it a good idea that US soldiers are shown on video killing animals let alone doing it in a way that is not considered humane.

Marines, not soldiers. Plus these guys are obviously severely retarded. Taping your illegal acts and THEN PUTTING IT ON YOUTUBE is not a sign of high intelligence.
